Hatching Hornworm Eggs
To achieve best results, we recommend creating a hornworm cup as we have pictured below. We sell empty hornworm cups that include the mesh, cup, and lid here. Prepare the food and put 1 inch in the bottom of the cup. Once the food has cooled, place 50 hornworm eggs on the lid and place the cup on top of the lid. Once the eggs hatch, the hornworms will crawl up towards the food. Be sure there is are flow to the bottom of the cup to ensure the worms have fresh air flow. Check often to make sure the worms do not run out of food, and they are not overcrowded. If the hornworms begin to over crowd, you can make more cups to separate them. To separate the worms, place them in a plastic bin and feed them chunks of the food.
If the worms run out of food they may begin to eat each other, so it is important to check on them often.
